Templeton Trail

The year of 2018 started off to a wonderful start! Especially because I started with a lovely nature hike in the spacious Palmer Park.

Located just five minutes off of N Academy Blvd, the Templeton trail is just one of many trails surrounding the Yucca Flats of Palmer Park in Colorado Springs, CO. It is very easy to access and highly trafficked.

This 3.8 mile hike takes a nice little loop up and around the flats. It is best used between the months of April and October. But the park is open all year round.

Fortunately, Dogs are allowed as long as they are leashed, and of course it is very kid friendly. Horse back riding and mountain biking are also accepted.

Elevation

Start: 6528 ft.

Max: 6565 ft.

Gain: 53 ft.

I had a bit of a late start that Saturday morning, but as soon as I shook off the laziness and drank some coffee, I was ready to go!

When I arrived, right away, you could tell it was a very popular area. It was definitely an adventure because of all the different trail heads. They did get a bit confusing and I got lost a couple of times. But I did eventually figure it out!

Some people do say it is about 4.2 miles long instead of 3.8 miles. I did not track the distance when I went so I apologize for keeping you guessing. I guess you will just have to go find out the true distance for yourself!

Would I do it again?

Yes! of course. This adventure is not very far from my life, yet so far away from reality when you are up there. You feel like you are on top of the world! I, especially, would like to hike all the other trails surrounding the Templeton trail, It will make more sense if I hike them all anyway.

I appreciate you for being curious and visiting us here at Emerald Oasis. Comment and let me know if you decided to check it out! I would love to hear about your adventure to Palmer Park.
